About Me...

Ella Jaz Macrokanis is a multi-faceted entertainer with a diverse career spanning live music, theatre, screen, and arts education. Her experience ranges from local music events and touring productions to large-scale arena performances, both onstage and behind the scenes.
On stage, Ella is best known for her Matilda-nominated performance as Jerusha Abbott in Daddy Long Legs. Other notable credits include Philoclea in Head Over Heels, Kill Climate Deniers and Killer Queens. She is also an accomplished cabaret performer, having co-created original works such as It Takes a Lot Not to End Up Dead and Yours Sincerely, Banana Brain.
Ella has a strong presence in live music, having managed her own acts for major events including the Bridge to Brisbane, Olympics Green & Gold Runaway, and the Queensland Great Awards at QAGOMA.
Her screen credits include playing Maddie Gallagher in SBS’s Safe Harbour — an International Emmy Award-winning series — as well as appearances in The Butterfly Tree and The Family Law (Season 3).
Behind the scenes, Ella has developed a passion for mentoring young performers. She has worked with students across Queensland, including at Gregory Terrace, Shailer Park State High, and the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries. She also contributes to the Program and Events team behind Creative Generation State Schools Onstage.
In 2024, Ella made her international debut in Japan with Talanton Theatre Company. She is currently preparing to return, performing Hamlet, Run, Melos!, and How the Elephant Got Its Nose for Japanese students learning English — combining her performance background with her commitment to education and cultural exchange.
